How do I get more clients in my lawn business?
Me and My friend are just beginning a small lawn service business, and I am wondering How I can get my name, and my service out more to gather more clients. Any suggestions on how to advertise, and capture more business?

I think the best thing for that type of business is word of mouth. Make sure your first clients are pleased, and they will be sure to spread the word, and you’ll have referrals. But continue to offer great service once you build up more clients!
Once you have a good amount of jobs and can afford it, maybe try advertising in the local paper or go to local restaurants to see if you can place an ad on their place mat… anything where people will become familiar with the name of your business.
flyers
competitive pricing (buy four cuts and get the fifth one free)
word of mouth (five/ten dollars off to existing clients for refering a friend who signs up )
talk to the school board and see about when the existing contacts for cutting grass around the schools end. Put in a competitive bid there.
Spring for a small add in the sunday paper classifieds
At the supermarkets sometimes when you walk into the store there are bulliten boards where you can place a nice flyer wiht little tabs that people can pull off with your phone number on it.
Go door-to-door and put tags on the door…you know, the kind that hang over the door knob. Make sure to make them look professional and get them printed at a nice place. Include the businesses name and contact info, a list of services you provide along with fees, and a tear-off postcard that they can fill out to check which services they want you to perform for them. Make it as easy as possible for them to sign-up. Also, try to get business clients, like churches and local businesses, by calling them. If you can beat the competitor’s price, you have a shot.
Place an ad in a local newspaper. Also you can make fliers and put them up in local grocery stores or businesses. Also once you get a few clients, if you do a good job they could spread your name around. No offense, but the elderly are the best for this. Since many of them cant do the work themselves, they will usually spread your names around. also ask your family to tell friends and neighbors. good luck.
The good part about lawns is that they are self advertising. Being a home (and lawn owner) I am always looking for gardeners who do a good job on lawns. If a lawn you service is healthy and weed free, all the neighbors would notice that. You can simply knock on the neighbors’ doors and point out that you service the best looking lawn in the neighborhood. I have no doubt that many of the neighbors would switch to you.
-Put fliers up at local grocery store bulletin boards
-Go door to door. If you see someone whose grass needs to be done then stop and knock on the door. You never know. They might be busy and will “impulse” buy.
-Go to neighborhoods where older people live as opposed to families. The elderly are always looking for someone to help them out
-Once you get business in a neighborhood put fliers on the doors of other neighbors with your information letting them know that you have customers on their street
-Make business cards. Even if you have to buy the blank cards at Staples and print them out yourself at home. It looks professional. Hand them out to people.
Do you have business cards? If so, tack them up on store bulletin boards, at libraries, and give them to customers. Tell them if they’re satisfied, to recommend you to their friends & family.
Put ads in the paper, or on local radio shows.
Good luck…sure wish I could afford to hire someone like you!
O.K.
My best advice: Spend a little money to advertise
EX: Making flyer’s, door hangers, business cards, magnets, etc…
I also have a Lawn company in Omaha Neb.
I spend roughly 1,300.00 a year on advertising.
Word of the mouth seems to be my best bet, I do one clients yard and the neighbors asks “who does your lawn…….”, then they call me. Just remember, eyes are always watching. Your service is your best advertising!!!!
You can also do a city fliers, it is a little pricey, but you can advertise to specific areas you want to target.
You might want to check out this site….. i used it when i was starting out to ask questions: If you are doing snow removal they have one called
Good Luck to ya Man!!!
get business cards go around town and find people that r old and cant cut there lawn and go to there door or call realtors if they need the house they sell cut
this is more like a small business. Keep a clean, friendly look. Make a small, very nice logo. ( Look at franchises that deal in same business you’ll get some good inspiration from their logos) basically make the logo very self explanatory , make it eye catching and bright.
Then create a memorable name, like ” the Lawn Mower Company”, “The Lawn Mower”, “Clean & Green” etc
Have a small clean tagline offering a reliable service and rounding up what you offer like:
Logo
“Clean & Green”
“Simply Call and we’ll Mow”
Clubs. Parks. Houses. Schools. etc
Sorry, I am presuming you mean a lawn Mower business when you sy Lawn Business.?
Anyway, whatever business follow same procedure. Then Invest in a small box advert and give it in classified magazines, if you got some money it is really really worth it to put in Yellow Pages directory etc.
Flyers etc is a waste unless you got etc money then you can post to your target market.
word of mouth
advertise - advertise
try -
leaflets and flyers - go to shopping malls and put them on windshields
ask local coffee shops if you can leave them their - they usually have a bulletin board for just that
yellow page ad
newspaper
if you have enough in your budget you can do a mailing
