it comes from the same pipe that your sink does it except that it’s made from rubber or plastic. Also I’ve been doing it since I was 4 or 5 and I’m older than dirt now.

no, it doesn’t sound good. there are chemicals in the hose, and the hose sits outside! who knows if there are bugs, dirt or anything in there!
they should just unhook the hose and get water straight from the faucet on the side of the building.

my mother locked us out of the house during the summers and made us play out side (not neglectful or anything) and we drank from the garden hose all day every day during the summer and all of us are just fine. Is the tap water ok in the first place? Nothing that gets on that hose will hurt the kids. It will probably help their immune system. Plus, they are boys so there is probably way worse things that go into their mouths when you are not looking. Our bodies are more efficient then moms like to think they are. A little dirt never hurt anyone!

The water that comes out of the hose is the exact same water that comes out of the faucet inside the facility. The only “yucky” part of it is that bugs can crawl up inside the water hose. Eww. I’m sure they leave fecal matter all over the place. Then again, I guess if the turn the water hose on and let it run for a second before drinking, then it would wash all that stuff out. *shrug* I drank from the hose all the time when I was a kid and I’m healthy. If it makes you uncomfortable, just talk to someone at the facility about it.

If it were a new hose I see no problem However if this hose is left in the sun for an extended period of time all kinds of chemicals leakage could be taking place. That would be my fear what are theses chemicals theses vulnerable children are ingesting. Why take that chance?

We did it as kids! But now supposedly the chemicals in the hose can leech in to the water. But if you run the hose for a minute beforehand then you are okay. The link says as long as it is marked that it is safe for drinking from. I read that they contain lead sometimes. Just ask the daycare, or maybe even offer to go buy them one that says safe for drinking on it.

There are labels now on hoses that say you shouldn’t drink from them. However some place I heard you’d be ok to drink from it as long as you made sure you ran the water out of the hose long enough that you weren’t drinking the water that was laying inside the hose.

As long as you let the water run for a few seconds to make sure no insects or foreign objects have made it into the hose. Also if the sun has made the plastic hot, particles of plastic in the water will be washed out. So, let it run a bit and everything should be ok.
