Suncast Hose Reel
|
| Review Date: November 18, 2009 |
| Reviewer: A Kaiser enthusiast, |
| I have used the Suncast Hose Reels at my home for several years. This reel attaches to the house with four screws into the siding. Very easy to install and has a finished look. It is an excellent product to keep long garden hoses rolled up and tidy. Purchasing through Amazon is quick and easy...and reliable. |

| The minimal assembly required for the Suncast Hose TReel is easy and the instructions are good. Because it is side mounted, it is easy winding and unwinding the hose. I recommend this product. |
Lasts about 9 years in cold climes

Installed this exact model hose reel in 2000 and received 9 good years of use with it. It endured about 2 bad western Pennsylvania winters and a few winters when I took it off and put it inside. I think I was fairly rough with it in use and still did get 9 years use before it just began leaking heavily at the fittings and was replaced by the same model this year. I think that in warmer climates with little freezing weather a customer could see much more than 9 years of good use with this reel.
It will not last forever but I was satisfied with nine good years of use considering the rigorous continental climate I live in.The replacement I installed this past May 2009 is working great as expected. |
Good Reel for the Price

After inspecting and installing the reel, I can say it is a good reel for the price. It is your typical molded plastic wheel, but what do you expect for $30? There are much higher quality metal, heavy duty reels, but these will run you $100+. For the average user with light use, such as washing your car on the weekends, this will work just great. I used a 75 ft hose and the reel seems pretty full, I would not suggest a 100 ft hose on this. It reels in and out pretty easily - when reeling the hose up you generally have to guide the hose a little bit with your hand so it wraps up evenly.
I have seen reviews where people say the fittings leak over time, but due to my short usage I cannot comment on this. The fittings / connections seem acceptable so I don't expect to have any problems in the near future. |
Broke almost immediately

| Seems like a decent hose reel as long as you don't have too heavy of a hose. I put a 100' semi-heavy duty hose and it broke on the first use. Probably would be OK with a regular light-duty garden hose. |
